The story behind 805 Movement and Performance Arts

In the summer of 2008, an inspired idea took shape: to merge the disciplines of fine arts and athletic training into a single, transformative program. At its heart were two passionate individuals—Marcel Acebo, a lifelong Olympic-style weightlifter, and Nicole Hart, a legacy dancer with a rich background in multiple disciplines. Drawing from decades of combined experience, they united not only their expertise but also their lives, marrying in 2011. Together, they laid the foundation for what would become a truly unique and effective approach to dance education.
This vision became Motions Academy of Dance and Athletics—a space to learn, move, and create.

 

Motions Evolved into 805 MPA: A New Era for Movement and Performance in SLO County

After 15 years of inspiring creativity, discipline, and personal growth through dance and athletics, Motions Academy of Dance and Athletics (MADA) proudly announces its evolution into a new chapter: 805 Movement and Performance Arts (805 MPA).

This rebranding reflects a natural progression in our mission. As the integration of sport and dance has continued to thrive, the need for a more inclusive and expansive model became clear. 805 MPA is designed to support and celebrate all forms of athleticism—from traditional sports to performance-based movement—while staying true to the foundational values that shaped our journey. 

805 MPA will continue to serve San Luis Obispo County with innovative programming that champions access, excellence, and opportunity for youth across all disciplines.
